This was a great tool for my 12 year old. He can talk to me about anything but maybe he don't want to talk about all things with me, or maybe there is something he didn't even think about talking about. This book was able to leave with him to flick through and find out whats going on with his body in his own time and comfort.
I bought this book for my 9 year-old son. I didn't want to give him information about sex, transmittable diseases or contraception at this age, but I was hoping for at least some information about how a boy's body works, biologically - at least a line drawing or two. It's "cool", it's readable with lots of cartoon type drawings to "lighten" the text - but the amount of information is disappointing. All focused on things like, when you get older, it's important to shower every day; you might feel moody, etc. But I think my son would have really liked to see at least one good diagram showing a cross-section of a boy's body with a label about where the sperm are produced, for example. Kids like to know how things work and that doesn't have to include information about sex. I find it a shame that the author seemed to feel that this level of information was too much.
